Lithographie : La lithographie tire son nom du grec lithos «pierre» et graphein, «écrire». Il s'agit d'une technique d’impression qui permet la création et la reproduction d'oeuvres graphiques en plusieurs exemplaires à partir de dessins reproduits sur une pierre calcaire. Le papier est mis en contact des pierres encrées dans une presse. Les lithographies peuvent être numérotées ou non. Des grands ateliers, comme Maeght ou Mourlot, maitres dans cette technique, et spécialisé dans cette technique on produit des lithographies des plus grands maîtres, très recherchées aujourd'hui
Pablo Picasso : Pablo Ruiz Picasso est l'un des plus grands artistes du XXème siècle. Il naît à Malaga en 1881, arrive à Barcelone à l'âge de 15 ans et réalise sa première exposition quatre ans plus tard. Il s'installe au Bateau-Lavoir à Paris (Montmartre) en 1904. La peinture de ses débuts est alors classique et se distingue par ses périodes colorées, la "période bleue" (1901-1904) suivi de la "période rose" (1904-1906). Empreint de nouvelles influences (Ingres, Cézanne, Gauguin) et de nouvelles rencontres (Matisses, Braques, Derain), la peinture de Picasso prend un tournant radical à l'image des "Demoiselles d’Avignon" (1906-1907). Cette géométrisation qui devient fragmentation, suivi par Braque, annonce l’avènement du Cubisme. Dans cet élan artistique révolutionnaire, l'année 1911 marque la naissance des premiers papiers collés. Son Espagne natale influence abondamment sa peinture entre les années 1930-1944. Marqué par la guerre civile, il s'éveille au militantisme avec l'oeuvre "Guernica", 1937. Une même angoisse est ressentie à travers ses travaux parisiens pendant la seconde Guerre Mondiale ("Nature morte au crâne de bœuf", 1942). Son installation dans le midi et son adhésion au Parti Communiste en 1944 laisse place à l'espoir dans sa peinture ("La joie de vivre", 1946). Les années 1950-1960 manifestent l'influence de ses contemporains comme Matisse mais aussi de grands maîtres (Hommages à Delacroix, Velázquez, Manet, David). L'activité artistique de Picasso ne prendra fin qu'à sa mort à Mougins, en 1973.
