Indonesia, 20th century, Sri dewi

Sri Dewi bronze statue

In Indonesia, Dewi Sri, "the goddess Sri", is the goddess of fertility and rice. It's another name for Lakshmi.

In Java, tradition requires that a corner of the house, kept secret, be dedicated to him.

Among the Bugis of the south of the island of Sulawesi, her name is Sangiang Serri, and is, in the epic La Galigo, the first earthly child of Batara Guru, son of Datu Patoto, the supreme deity of the
Bugis pantheon. Sangiang Serri dies after seven days, is buried and reborn as rice.
