Autographed letter signed to a captain. Camden Place, Chislehurst (England) June 1, 1872; 1 p in-8th (folds, slight spots).
The deposed emperor thanks, for the dispatch of a collection of romances of his mother, Queen Hortense, daughter of Empress Josephine: "I thank you, captain of the pleasure you have procured me by sending me the collection of romances of my mother. The copy you offer me is very rare and I did not have any of them for a long time. I am very touched by this kind attention from you (...) »
