Antique Dancing Mask - BAULE - Cote d’Ivoire

Old Baule zoomorphic mask, used to dance at the early stage of Goli ceremonies.
Such masks are regularly repainted, in order to stay "beautiful".
We can identify different coats of paint on this specimen, and the rear of the mask, with natural patina, shows that it is old and used.
The face, with 2 pairs of horns and a Goli Glin style open mouth, is very spectacular. Small parts are missing, probably eaten by mouses.
Genuine item, with a strong expression.
For collectors.

Height : 23.5 x 13 x 8 cms
Weight : 0.270 Kgs
Material : Wood, paint.
1950s to early 1960s.
