Alexandre Farto aka Vhils is a Portuguese street artist born in Lisbon in 1987.
Vhils won international recognition in 2008 at the London Cans Festival when one of his works was exhibited next to Banksy, the world star of street art, of which he was a guest. The photo of the two
works will make the front page of the newspaper The Times.
World famous for his singular works, Vhils leaves his mark on the walls of urban waste by engraving the material. By a game of "chiaroscuro", and by means of techniques often very surprising (hammer,
chisel, stonemason's hammer, explosive, acid, etc. ..), Vhils "breaks" the walls to let generally appear gigantic faces, sometimes those of local inhabitants, whose quality of features suggests a
perfect technical mastery and immense artistic talent.
