Lithographs by Adel Abdessemed (1971-), an algerian-french contemporary artist. He lives and work in Paris and in London. He is represented by the galleries David Zwirner (New York) and Dvir (Tel-Aviv). Adel Abdessemed comes from a chaouis familiy, originally from the Aures, and who lived in Constantine. During his childhood, he met Chérif Merzouki in Batna. He disagreed with his exotic and orientalist vision of art. Chérif Merzouki died in Adel Abdessemed's arms. He started his artistic production from 1986 to 1990 at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Batna, and then went to the Superior School of Fine Arts in Alger in 1990. He left Algeria in 1994. He then lived and created in Lyon (École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, 1994-1998), Paris (Cité internationale des arts, 1999-2000), New York (Bourse P.S.1, 2000-2001), Berlin (2002-2004), Paris (2005-2008), New York (2009), Paris (de 2010 à maintenant). Adel Abdessemed his a big name in the Contemporary Art World, and his fame keeps on growing. The Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris made a big retrospective of his work in 2012. His works are present in the collections of the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris, Musée national d'art moderne Georges-Pompidou, Paris, Fonds régional d'art contemporain, Champagne-Ardennes à Reims, Collection Budi Tek, Shanghai, Fondation François Pinault in Venice and Musée d'art moderne et contemporain in Genève.
